Social media is a tool that is needed for any business, but it can seem like a scary thing to start. With these five tips from Blossom, you will be sure to thrive in this modern age of marketing.

1. Have social media pages

This might seem like an obvious tip, but not many businesses have social media accounts. This may be because of lack of knowledge and interest, or just being too busy to even think about social media. The first step of marketing these days is to create social media accounts. Need some help with this? Contact us and we can set up your accounts.

2. Post on your pages at least twice a week

Having social media pages is great, but actually posting on them is even better. I have seen countless social media pages without any posts, or they haven’t posted in four months. This can hurt your reputation because your customers might assume that you aren’t open for business.

3. Create engaging content, not just memes

According to the Oxford Dictionary, a meme is a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc., that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by Internet users. This is not what you should be posting to your customers on social. Yes, it is ok to post a meme once in a while, but if your only content is memes then you should take a look at your marketing plan.

It is ideal to post engaging content towards your consumers that isn’t just marketing your business, but you also don’t want to forget to market your business. Create posts that are related to your field, but not always about your business.

4. Do research on the best content for your followers

You may notice that some posts will have more likes and comments than others. Why do you think that is? Is it because you shared a useful tip or a fun picture that people relate to? Figure out exactly what kind of imagery and text do best with your crowd. This can be through engagement percentage and the number of people you reach with certain posts.

5. You own a business, be proud of it!

You’re a business owner, that is one thing that you should be extremely proud of. Share posts about your company on your personal social media pages. Word of mouth, reaching out to your contacts, and letting people know what you do are some of the best ways to get new customers.

Are you ready to grow your social media presence? We would love to help you.
