Have you ever dreamt of making it to the top of Google’s search results?

You’re not alone.

Every day, millions of websites vie for Google’s most coveted top page, but only a handful make the cut. Why? How?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

Today, we’ll share three actionable tips to boost your chances of reaching the top of Google’s most coveted spot.

Intrigued? You should be. These aren’t your run-of-the-mill tips; they’re strategic insights we learned while running Blossom Digital Marketing.

So, let’s get started!

Tip #1: Start with a Good SEO Core Keyword

Core keywords serve as the foundation of your content. They define your content and, when chosen correctly, can attract traffic and leads online.

For starters, the right keyword:

  • Is relevant to your topic;
  • It should have a decent search volume, and
  • Most importantly, it should give you a decent chance of ranking on search engines.

Thankfully, there are several tools out there that could help us do just that. Google Keyword Planner is one. Semrush and Ahrefs are just two of the many paid options that allow you to see a keyword’s search volume and competition score.

Now that we’ve discussed finding the right keyword, what’s next? How do you maximize a keyword’s potential on your webpage?

Tip #2: Master On-Page SEO

A website ranking #1 on the search results didn’t get there by accident. Chances are, it’s by deliberate design.

The secret? A playbook called on-page SEO.

You see, Google looks at thousands of ranking factors before deciding on the pages that go on the top of its search results.

On-page SEO is the key to making your website an irresistible choice for search engines. It might sound too technical, but don’t fret.

We’ve got free tools and plugins, such as RankMath and Yoast, that can guide your on-page optimization efforts. Think of these tools as checklists that ensure everything is set before you hit the “publish” button.

Tip #3: Build Authority

Reputation is critical online. However, unlike word-of-mouth recommendations, the internet has its unique way of defining what makes a website reputable. Good content is one, but being recognized by others as a reliable source of information can make a massive difference to your SEO results.

So how do you build it? Backlinks.

Think of backlinks as personal recommendations on the internet. When another website links to yours, it gives your content a digital thumbs-up. The more authoritative and relevant that website is, the more valuable their “recommendation” becomes. It’s like having an industry expert publicly endorse you.

However, you need to remember that not all backlinks are created equal. In other words, a backlink from a brand-new blog might hold less weight than one from an established website. Instead of chasing numerous backlinks, aim for those that come from reputable sources.

So, there you have it – three tried and tested strategies to give your website that SEO edge. Remember, while these tips can kickstart your journey, SEO is a marathon, not a sprint.
