When it comes to Instagram, everyone knows that it is essential to have people follow your page. Of course, it is vital to have a rather large number of followers. The word “large” can vary anywhere from 1,000 to 10,0000, depending on what your profile is all about. For example, you might have a niche business that is in one location with no eCommerce opportunities. If that’s the case, then your following might be different than that of Nike. It can be tempting to pay for fake profiles to follow your account, but that can come with consequences such as getting your account deleted. We have laid out three essential tips to help you grow your Instagram following.

1. Use hashtags

Having hashtags in your post might seem unimportant, but it is a fantastic way to reach users that are interested in your business and who are near you. According to AdSpresso.com, using at least one hashtag increases engagement by 12.6%. Using hashtags that are relevant to your business will help users find you that are looking for something specific. Perhaps you sell handmade necklaces, and someone searches #HandmadeJewelery, they will see your posts if you use that in your copy or comments. Don’t skip out on the hashtags. You never know who you could be missing.

2. Add a location to your posts

It’s essential to add a location to Instagram posts. If you are a small business and people come to your location, this is especially important. Let’s say you are a coffee shop, and you often post on Instagram tagging your town. Someone who is an avid coffee drinker and is visiting town looks at posts on Instagram with the city tagged and sees your delicious latte. They will then find your page and see you. It’s a terrific (and free!) way to promote yourself on social media.

3. Tag other accounts

Something that might help you get found on Instagram is tagging other accounts that are similar to yours or in the same industry. For example, if you’re a salon, it’s a great idea to tag the pages for the products you use or other industry influencers. They might then share your post or page to their profiles, which will encourage others to follow you.

Instagram can be challenging to manage and grow! It’s a platform that is continually evolving. It can be hard to stay up-to-date on algorithm changes. Are you looking for help managing and growing your Instagram? Contact us at 260-330-5472 for your free estimate.
