It’s no secret that hundreds of marketing emails wind up in the spam folder each day. Because of this, many business owners assume that email is not an effective form of marketing but that’s simply not true. We’ve written about the importance of email marketing on our blog before; when email marketing is done well, it is one of the best ways to reach your past and current customers and clients. But, in order for it to be successful, you need to have a healthy email audience. How do you build an email audience? We have three easy suggestions for you to try!
1. Use a Website Pop-up
If you don’t already have one, a website pop-up is an excellent way to have a new visitor to your site agree to join your mailing list. You’ve seen them countless times because they work! Many businesses offer a discount in exchange for an email. Or if you provide a service, you could offer a free PDF resource related to your business. For example, at Blossom, we offer helpful social media tips in our pop-up. When you offer a discount or free resource, people are significantly more motivated to join your email list.
2. Host a Giveaway
Hosting, or participating, in a giveaway is a great way to collaborate with like-minded businesses as well as expose your brand to new people. Once you create the perfect giveaway, be sure to include an opt-in to receive emails as criteria for entering. This allows you to grow your email list and stay connected with the potential clients and customers that have entered the giveaway.
3. Upgrade Your Website’s Contact Page
Your website most likely has a contact page where people submit their name, email, and a message. This page is the perfect opportunity to add a “stay connected” or “subscribe to our emails” box for a website visitor to check off as they complete their message to you. If they are taking the time to contact you, there is a high chance they want to know more about your business so give them the opportunity with an opt-in box.
When thinking about your email list and email marketing strategy it is important to remember two things. One, you must be creating consistent and quality content in order to motivate people to stay subscribed. And two, you cannot just add email addresses at random to your list. It is vital to be aware of the CAN-SPAM Act and follow its guidelines. At Blossom, our team is ready to help you connect to your audience and grow your business with our email marketing services.
